Human Walking is an extremely complex activity whose apparent simplicity disappears when one attempts a quantitative or even qualitative description of the proses. Fortunately, the theories and techniques of modern motion analysis have markedly improved our ability to deseribe and understand normal and pathological ambulation. Much of the current success is a result of the wide interest in human walking as demonstrated by a diverse group of clinicians and scientists currently working in the field, including orthopaedic surgeons. Physical therapists, bioengineers, physiatrist,neurologists,orthotists,prosthetists and exercise physiologistts. The thrid edition of Human Walking is geared to this diverse group of students, researchers,and clinicians,and coantinues the pragmatic tradition of providing useful information from a broad spectrum of expertise while offering a springboard for future advances in the field by the next generation. |
