This new edition includes a new chapter addressing electrical stimulation and electromyographic biofedback for the treatment of urogenital disorders. Written by two seasoned clinicians. Rebecca Stephenson and beth Shelly,this chapter elearly describex a framework for understanding urogenital impirments and outlines a variety of stimulation and biofeedback techniques designed to manage these impairments. Much of this chapter addresses clinical disorders, including urinary incontinence and pelvic pain. Several new and younger authors have been recruited to contribute some fresh perspectives to topics in this third edition. Scott Stackhause. PT.PhD.has written the new chapter on neuromuscular electrical stimulation for the control of posture and movement disorders. This Chapter addresses topics ranging from neuromuscular electrical stimulatiuon (NMES) for glenohumeral subluxation,to implanted NMES systems for movement control in central nervous system dysfuntion. Tara JoManal,PT,OCS,SCS,has co-authored a revised chapter on electrical stimulation for pain control whit editor Lynn Snyder-Mackler. The fokus of this chapter is on the decision-making process in implmenting electrical stimulation for pain control and the evidence from clinicaltrials regarding treatnent efficacy. Sara Farquhar .PT,MPT,has also co authored the updated chapter on NMES for musle strengthening with Dr.Syder-Mackler. Jennifer Bushey. PT.
