Abstract/Notes This bokk focuses upon developing and implementing the psychomotor component of the Individualized Educational Program(IEP) that must be provided by local school systems to handicapped students. IEPs are required by current federal legislation to ensure that all hndicapped children have an appropriate free public edcation. Psychomotor performance levels usually are assessed by physical education teachers as members of the IEP team,and program recommendation are subsequently madeduring the IEP conference. This book is intended for use by physical education and other teachers who program for handicaped students,for students taking adapted physical education or special education college and University courses,for participants taking in-service training worskshops,and for other persons interesed in this Subject. An assessment model, the geddes psychomotor Inventory(GPI),and an accompanying pyschomotor individualized educational program,the Geddes Psychomotor Development Program(GPDP),are provided in this book for use with students with handicapping conditions who who are placed in special and regular physical education classes. The GPI and the GPDP also may be used with many other students who have handicapping conditions that are not discussed in this book. The GPI analyzes psycomotor performance commpetencies of individuals from infancy trough young adulthood.
