Abstract/Notes Why is the allied health field recommended to many of these future students? Three principal reasons come immediately to mind, altough there are many others. First, the opportunity of obtaining gainful employment after graduation is nowhere greater. The healt industry is one of the largest employers in the county as a result of the rapid and countinuing growth of the field of medicine. The Scientific advances of the past several decades, and those advences yo to come, assure that there will be an ever-increasing need for allied health professionals. Second, thegenral population of the United States is increasing, and the number of elderly persons is also growing rapidly. These people need high quality health care. Thousands of additional men and women in the allied health field will be required to meet these demands. Finally, the American public is becoming more knowledgeable about and more concius ofmaintining and protecting health. this ever-increasing awareness will result increased use of health care facilities and, ultimately, increased demand for personnel to staff those facilities.
