Abstract/Notes My devotion to psychotherapy began when I was a naive yet keen graduate student collecting disertation data. I interviewed young adults with traumatic brain injuries and evaluated their quality of life 2-4 years postinjury.Preeminent in that sobering experiences were their pervasive despair, socila isolation, and unproductive existences. As the focus of neuropsychology at that time was on assessment rather than treatment, none of these patient had had the luxury of psychotherapeutic interventions,or even a"listening ear" at that juncture. I decided to commit my prfessional career to providing psychotherapy and neurorehabilitation for such patients. After finishing gradute scholl I Completed a postdoctoral residency at presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City under the tutelege of George Prigatano,PhD and Mary Pepping,PhD. From then on,my professional vantagepoint become holistic neurorehabilitation. Many of the psychotherapeutic treatment princples and techniques presented in this book emanate from my 24 years(at this writting)of clinical experience as a psychoterapist/neuropsychologist and 16 years as Clinical Director of a holistic neurorehabilitation program(the Center For Transitional NeuroRehabilitation,Barrow Neurogical Institute).
