<title>Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation</title>
</titleInfo>
</relatedItem>
<note>Musculoskeletal conditions have an enormous impact on soceity. Today, musculoskeletal conditions have become the most common cause of disability and severe longterm pain in the industrialized world. As we approach the second half of the Bone and joint Decade,it is apparent that the knowledge and skill required by the community of health care providers involved in managing the impairments and functional limitations resulting from acute or chonic musculoskeletal injuri/illiness has grown exponentially as the frequency of visits to practitions'offices for musculoskeletal system complaints has risen. The art and science of musculoskeletal rehabilitation began as a consequence of the injuries suffered on the battlefields of Europe during World War I. Since that time,numerous textbooks have been published regarding musculoskeletal rehabilitation. These texts have encompased the areas of basic science,evaluation,and teatmen. However,these books have most often been developed and written in professional &quot;isolation&quot;(i,e.,from a single disclipne'sperspective). as a conseqquence,topics have either been covered in great breath with very little depth. Our goal in the development and production of this series was to develop aseries of textbooks that complement and build on one another,providing tne reader with the needed depth and breath of information for this critical area of health care.</note>
