| Abstract/Notes | Therapeutic exercise is one of the core skills upon which the profession of physiotherapy is based. Although there are many different professionals inolved in delivering advice on physical activity and exercise, physiotherapists are equipped to provide therapeutic exercise programmes in light of their knowledge of the impact of pathological processes on an individual. Physiotherapists prescribe exercise to manage bot acute and chronic conditions and to maximize an individual's funtional ability. From our experience of working with pre- and post-registration physiotherapy students in this field we have identified a need for a quick refrence guide to exercise prescription that can be used both in the lasroo and in linial practice. This bokk provides essential information to prescribe exercise safely and effectively in conditions commonly seen by physiotherapists. As such it will be useful for physiotherapists working in speialist areas and when presribing exercise for patients who have co-orbidites which my affect their response to exercise. It is beyond the scope of this book to provide detailed information on all aspects of therapeutic exercise prescription: therfore refrence and further reading list are provided at the end of each chapter. |
