| Abstract/Notes | From the outset this book was designed to be a practical guide. It is not intided to be used for clinical decision making regarding bestpractice. We recommend that this book is supplemented with a standard electrotherpy text such as Electrotherapy Explained by Robertson el al (2006) or Electrotherapy Evidence-Based Practice edited by Sheila Kitchen (2002). The Charted Soceity of Physiotherapy (CSP) has just recently issued a publication entitled'Guidance for the clinical use of electrotherapy agents'(2006).However,that is not to say that this book lacks any theorotical principles or physiological rationale. To allow safe application some knowledge of the physiological effects and the possible dangers and contraindications is essential. Some Information on these aspects has been included. To supplement the teaching within the classroom we found that peer observation was very effectiv at enhancing understanding. The peer observation checklist helps to structure the observation but is equally effective as an aid to reflection. Alongside this space in which to record a simulated patient record and a area to write down any nores on the fimer intrcacies of the application. |
