Helath care clinical mangement is one of the most complex yet rewarding Professional endeavors that can be udertaken. Physical therapy clinical management(most often carried out by physical therapists) involves the masterful exccution of a myriad of important functiona. These include,among manyother coprimary objectives,selection of a business site;the establishment of a clinical mission and goals;the recruitment,selection,and retention of key human resources;the everidy management of patient care services;and patient,client,and relevant third-party satisfaction. Physical therapy clinical servies mangers must also be(and must ensure that theirs staffs are)onthe cutting edge of legal,regulatory,and ethical compliance at multiple tierd levels-from fedral tostate to local governmental mandates to directives of accreditation entities and professional associations. Managed care has fundamentally changed the rules of engagement and operations for physical therapy clinical service managers. For the fisrt time in medical history,cot containment is a coprimary objective of health care delivery,along with optimal patient care service delivery. Altoughmanged care makes a clinical manager's job more complex,it does not make it unrassonably more difficult. |
